Why should you build a niche site
You are here because you want to make money without having to work your butt off for somebody else. It’s important to find out if all your planned online work will be fruitful or not. What’s in a niche will either make you or break you.
Always keep in mind, that whatever niche you choose to make money from:
It has to be a niche in which you can help people out.
You could be leading them to a product they never knew existed, or they didn’t know enough about. You could actually help them out by giving them advice, even from a personal experience. Also, offer a product, or an alternative, to compliment your suggestions. This could be just a simple eBook or a piece of software. Here, the sky is really the limit.
So, whatever niche you decide to go for, remember to write your content in a way that helps people out in one way or another.
This is what your niche website will be about, helping others. You need to solve their problems, while at the same time it will be easy for you to monetize.
This is the way to go about things… and there are ways of doing it.
Finding a niche suitable for your requirements is essential, for after all, what’s in a niche?
You will spend hours, days, weeks, months and years pumping your life and soul into it.
If you don’t make the right choice of niche, you will be leaving money on the table.
There are steps which you should follow so you won’t be one of those who ends up disappointed. If you’re not careful, you’d have wasted your time, and even worse, be left substantially out of pocket.
Build your first affiliate website project
It’s exciting finding a suitable domain to buy, choosing your host, and a theme to use for your wonderful project. A project which you plan will be able to change your life for the better.
Initially, figuring out how to get started can be rather trying, but don’t worry as things will fall into place.
When you write your very first niche blog post, your tummy goes all warm and fuzzy as you publish it. This warm and fuzzy feeling erupts into pure joy when your work is indexed by Google. You just want the whole world to know that you have achieved something astronomical. You expect everybody to pat you on the back for your efforts and success, and rightly so!
“That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” comes to mind and you realize just how wide your horizons have become.
You just want to jump up and down, and you want all your loved ones to do the same, cheering at your success!
Now, jump back down to Earth and do things properly. You will then have a real reason to jump up and down, and so will your loved ones.
You can join any platform of your choice to start your super project, although some platforms I do have my serious doubts about.

What is a niche website for
The purpose of having a niche website is to make it profitable.
A niche is a distinct segment of a particular market. You can also refer to this as an ‘audience’.
According to Wikipedia, a niche market is the subset of the market on which a specified product is focused. The market niche defines as the product features aimed at satisfying specific market needs.
When making your choice of what niche to use for your website, ideally, you should set your eyes on something which is of great interest to you personally. This may very well be a hobby, a passion, a problem you are encountering, or about something that you want or need. From this last sentence, you suddenly realize that there are millions of niches you can pick and choose from, but don’t rush it, please!
When you choose your niche, you have to make sure that it’s something interesting for others as well, and not just for you and perhaps for a hundred other people scattered around the whole world.
You see, in affiliate marketing, it’s a numbers game.
The more people who come to your site, the more the chances that somebody decides to buy something from you. The odds that these hundred people of actually finding your website is like finding a bus on the top of Mount Everest.
Those who actually do manage to find your website is a very small percentage. It’s an even smaller percentage who take a real interest. Worse still, it’s only a tiny percentage of the original hundred who would be interested enough to actually buy something from your niche website in the first place.
Where am I going with this?
Yes, numbers. It’s all in the numbers. In other words, the more people who come to your website, the more the chances are of some of these buying something. The people coming to your website, the visitors, is referred to as traffic. The more traffic you have, the more your chances are of making some money from your hard work and investment.
Getting traffic to your website is key, for without it, you might as well not have the website in the first place. This is more so if you have plans of earning a living with your website.
An important thing you need to think about is just how much profit a purchase will leave you to pocket.
I’ll elaborate on that.
Niche products sell online
If the product on your website is worth $10, and you get a commission of 10% on that, you will be making $1 on that sale.
If the product on your website is worth $100, and you get a commission of 10% on that, you will be making $10 on that sale.
Do you understand where I’m going here?
You have to realize that for you to sell that $10 product will be just as much work as selling the $100 product. So which product would YOU go for?
Easy, the $100 one!
What is niche marketing for (I’m just giving you food for thought here)
Coming back to your choice of niche.
This ideally, but not necessarily:
- needs to be something you like, or enjoy doing.
- It has to be something which is in demand out there.
- You also have to consider just what kind of competition your little new site will be facing.
Your niche could be fantastic, but if you think you will run out of things to write about it after a couple of months, that’s bad. You should choose a niche which you can carry on creating content until the end of time, and that you won’t be bored doing it.
There are tons of good niches to choose from, and also tons of bad ones. However, in all fairness, it’s good to say that there are in fact no ‘Good’ and ‘Bad’ ones, for they are all good. You have to distinguish between a Profitable niche and one which is not. One particular niche might not be profitable because it hasn’t got enough search traffic for a good return on investment, or perhaps it’s been marketed in a bad way.
Whatever niche you decide to use, it would be wise to do some research before taking the plunge.
For more information, training, support, and everything else you might need with your niche, you only need to go to Wealthy Affiliate. Once there, you won’t be disappointed, I promise.
